DesignOne of my biggest takeaways from working on Line 'Em Up was communicating my design ideas to the rest of the team effectively. Line 'Em Up was the first project where the other developers in my team were closely following and contributing to my design work, so I created a GDD for this project.
I had never done this for a project before, and it became incredibly helpful to my own creative process to have to think about how I would present each mechanic to another developer. Ultimately, it helped me think more carefully about how each mechanic would be presented to the player. This consideration led to me guiding the mechanics to be more streamlined and intuitive, which was a great benefit to the game. |
SoundFor this project, I decided to give myself an interesting challenge: all of the sound would be built from samples recorded on my phone from regular household items, then heavily distorted and edited in Reason.
