Overview
|
I have been a part of BSA since I was 6 years old (as a Tiger Cub). I was the only cub scout from my class to advance to boy scouts, and I was the only boy scout of my age group to remain active in the troop until I aged out of the program.
Boy Scouts has given me some of the most valuable experiences in my high school career, such as my trip to Philmont Scout Ranch, various summer camps, my Eagle Project, and my term as my troop's senior patrol leader. Through BSA, I learned outdoor skills, responsibility, and how to effectively lead large groups of people (or as my father calls it, "herding cats"). |
Eagle Project |
Every boy scout completes a large, end-of-career "eagle project" in which they do a large service to the community. For my eagle project, I built 5 "Little Free Pantries" around my city (see below). These pantries are small, community-sourced donation boxes that allow people in need to discreetly get food, toiletries, and other items without having to go to a food pantry.
